Leisure Limo
In the mood for a little history lesson? Well let's talk limousines. The first limousine was created back in 1902. The word limousine comes from the French and refers to the name given to the French region Limousin, because the covered compartment of the first limo actually looked similar to the raised hood of the cloak the shepherds of the area wore.
Stretch Limousines
The first limousines were basically just cars with partitions in them. It wasn't until the late 1920s that the first stretch limousine, or leisure limo made its debut in Arkansas. Cadillac was the maker and to this day is still a leader in the sales of stretch limos and other luxury vehicles as they are called. People took to the stretch limousine right away because its extra space allowed for the transporting of more people.
Today's Limousines
Nowadays, people have a great many options when it comes to leisure limos and other types of limos. There are limo SUVs, party buses, Hummer limos, sedans, etc. One thing's for certain, there is no shortage of choices for a luxury ride. And they come in all shades and colors too, from the traditional black limousine, to tan, navy, gray, silver and white, all the way to hot pink. But no leisure limo is as in demand as the conventional black stretch limo when it comes to occasions like corporate events, funerals, and government use.
Still, there's no denying that limos have come a long way from the day the first one was revealed to a shocked world. Now it seems like it's possible to do just about anything with a limo, including some things that were thought impossible not that long ago. And designers are constantly striving to improve on what we have. In fact, it seems like you just learn about one innovation in the limo business and another one follows right on top of it.
However, one thing will never change, and that's a limousine's ability to make its passengers feel like royalty. That's what it's all about. The dream. We can't all be wealthy, but for a while when we're riding in a luxury car like a limo, we can pretend.
